About ESGE Academy

The ESGE Academy, created as a new structure under the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), is dedicated to advancing education, science and research in gynaecological endoscopy.

As a central hub for training, certification, science, research, and networking, ESGE Academy supports gynaecological endoscopists at all stages of their careers, fostering excellence in patient care and endoscopic techniques.

With a strong focus on global collaboration, the ESGE Academy plays a central role in shaping the future of gynaecological endoscopy, ensuring the next generation of professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead the field.

Mission and Key Goals of the ESGE Academy
The mission of the ESGE Academy is to elevate the standards of education and training for gynaecological endoscopists globally, encourage scientific exchange and development. ESGE Academy strives to:
Empower professionals by offering state-of-the-art education, ensuring that practitioners acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for advanced endoscopic procedures and optimal patient outcomes.
Promote innovation in gynaecological endoscopy through scientifically driven educational content, expert-led programmes, and the integration of modern technologies.
Establish and maintain global training standards, particularly through the GESEA Programme, accreditation of diploma and training centres, and development of specialised fellowships.
Foster continuous professional development through the integration of e-learning resources, fellowships, and the engagement of young professionals in endoscopic communities.
Structure and Pillars of the ESGE Academy

The ESGE Academy is organised into four key pillars, each focusing on specific aspects of education, science and professional development. These pillars represent the Academy’s commitment to advancing gynaecological endoscopy.

Prof Benoit Rabischong
Director ESGE Academy
GESEA Educational Programme

The GESEA (Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment) Programme is central to the ESGE Academy’s mission. Professor Benoit Rabischong, ESGE Academy Director and the coordinator for Content & Development, oversees the development of the GESEA curriculum, which covers both basic and advanced endoscopic techniques. The programme includes special tracks in GESEA Robotics and GESEA Expert Level, as well as e-learning modules designed for flexible, accessible training worldwide.

Dr Istvan Argay
GESEA Centres Coordinator
GESEA Accredited Centres
The GESEA Accredited Centres are part of the Academy’s global network of educational institutions. These centres provide high-quality training and certification for endoscopists. Dr. Istvan Argay leads the expansion of the GESEA programme, ensuring that training centres meet ESGE’s rigorous standards. Under his leadership, the Academy continues to grow the network of accredited Diploma and Training Centres, enabling endoscopists worldwide to access recognised, high-quality education.
The ESGE Journal FVVO is a vital platform for disseminating cutting-edge scientific research and clinical insights in gynaecological endoscopy. The journal is scientifically independent from the ESGE’s other structures and activities. Professor Ertan Saridogan the coordinator, together with Editor-in-Chief Professor Justin T. Clark, ensure the journal maintains its objectivity and integrity as an essential resource for the global endoscopic community.

Young Endoscopic Platform (YEP)
The Young Endoscopic Platform (YEP) plays a vital role in shaping the future of gynaecological endoscopy. Professor Helder Ferreira coordinates the YEP Exchange and ESGE Fellowship Programme, focusing on the development and support of young endoscopists. Through mentorship, networking, and hands-on exchange programmes, YEP ensures that the next generation of professionals is equipped to lead the future of ESGE and the field at large.

ESGE Fellowship
The ESGE Fellowship Programme provides gynaecological endoscopists with opportunities to receive specialised training in internationally renowned centres. Through this initiative, fellows acquire advanced skills in the latest endoscopic techniques, allowing them to further their careers while contributing to the global exchange of expertise.
Guidelines Development
ESGE Academy is responsible for developing and promoting evidence-based guidelines in collaboration with ESGE’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Under the coordination of Professor Di Spiezio Sardo, these guidelines are presented to the ESGE Academy, where they are rigorously reviewed and approved. These guidelines serve as crucial resources for practitioners, ensuring that best practices are consistently followed across the endoscopic community.
